How to take care of your eyes in the Winter

Posted on Monday, February 2, 2009 at 11:02 am

Not only your hands, feet and face needs extra attention In the Winter,  your eyes also.
The skins of the eyes is very sensitive through the low number of fats in the skin structure. Therefore the skin around the eyes has necessarily some extra care in Winter. The skin around the eyes is only a half millimeter thick, that’s a third of the skin thickness of the rest of the face.  Because the skin is so liquid will they dry out fast. By temperatures under 8°C work the sebaceous glands of our skin only on half power, through which the skin is less good protected against cold and wind, and the liquid evaporates more fast.

In the winter you need to make sure that you use eye crème that is suited for a delicate skin, preferably with skin fats like hyaluronsour, vitamine K, panthenol or retinol, These fats are quickly absorbed by your skin. Another advantage of this kind of eye crème that when you tend to weep or cry because of the cold and (winter)wind these crèmes will not come into your eyes and will not sting you. An usual cream is often too aggressive for these sensitive skin around the eyes.
Eye crèmes will helps against wrinkles and eye bags.
Bring on of the cream do you quite simple with the (ring) finger: Take eye cream to size of a pea on your finger tip and knock the cream careful in, (without any press). Beginning by the inner corner of the eye and work to the outside.

Your eyes will find it also very delightfully when they wanted to be spoiled sometime with a caring eye mask. Normal facial masks are in general not very good suited for the eye zone.

When you use foundation, choose for an hydrating foundation. Nowadays they are so advanced that they take care of and protect  your eyes and face against the cold and air pollution. Ofcourse you bring the foundation on your whole face for a natural effect. If you have an oily skin, go for a less rich foundation as an oil free foundation with a less shine effect.

Clean your eyes with soft, hydrating eye lotion or eye gel. Avoided products with alcohol that dry out your skin. Choose for an ingredient as almond oil for a soft cleaning.
