This is the first article I picked from our MW-Social Network.

Title:  The worst fashion trends of 2008
Author: ModernWoman

Are you someone who always wears the latest fashion, or do you have an own style?
There are trends that return so now and then, or stay a little longer than a season or one year. Think for instance of the sunglasses and Uggs.

There are many sites that are informing you about the latest trends in fashion. A number of that sites even gives tips about the do’s and don’ts of particular clothing. “The worst fashion trends” are often found amongst celebs, and these are often discussed on the Internet. Quite frequently these celebs try to develop their own style and completely ignore the modern do’s and don’ts of fashion and even ignore the fashion advise of their (wardrobe) stylist. (This results in long talks/discussions about wrong clothes combinations on forums and fashion magazines).

I have too admit that I don’t follow all the trends. I try to combine the fashion trends I like with my own fashion style & items, so I can develop my own style.
But there are trends that I TRULLY dispice. Even when they’re HOT items, are the celebs wearing them or are they made by a famous designer, that doesn’t matter to me.

Below a list with 10 trends from 2008 I REALLY don’t like that much.

My absolutely number 1: Uggs
2: Gladiator Sandals
3: men in skinny jeans ( for women okay, even the skinny jeans is not made for every woman, but I saw several men wearing skinny jeans and that raised my eyebrows, OMG this is so wrong!!)
4: High-Waisted Jeans
5: Full skirts (skirts with a lot of Volume, my opinion is that it make look you fat!)
6: Bikini jeans
7: Sunglasses at Night
8: Open-toe shoes with tights
9: high Thick, chunky heels or Tapered heels
10: Celeb Perfumes

10 taboos for office clothing

Posted on Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at 10:13 am

A good way for raising the view figures on TV is nudity, without a doubt you’ve seen this (a lot). This helps considerably in the numbers. When you exaggerate this clothing style in the office, then you actual say that you are unprofessional and you just have to hope on it that other people don’t see that you’re missing the real skills for the job.

Once you’ve made a name with your sultry wardrobe, it can be difficult too free yourself from this image and you might never be taken seriously by your colleagues again.

You know them or have seen them before, maybe you’ve seen them at your office, people with “wrong" cloths.  There is probable nothing wrong with the clothing itself but there is with the way they are dressed and how they are combining the parts.  A bare skin; everybody has it. It only takes one look in a magazine or on TV and you’ll see how eager people are in showing off their bare skin. But even if you are proud of your bosom, this doesn’t mean you should show it everywhere. Especially a low cut décolleté is a large taboo for at the office.

When you don’t want to risk your image or career, avoided this clothing pitfalls  for sure:taboo clothes 1

A deep cut out neckline. Your office is not the place to win an award with your bosom. You can better close your top knots or carry a top or shirt under your blouse to hold the view from your low décolleté.

see-through blouses. When you are giving a presentation you want the attention on your presentation and not on the parts you can or can not see through your blouse. Always wear a shirt underneath multiple-layers of see thru fabrics.

taboo clothesMini or micro skirts.  in a video clip of Britney Spears, this can be perhaps the business clothing, but when you’re applying at Tommy Hilfiger or Donna Karen NY they probably think different about that.

Low hip pants. Outside the office, you probably can’t live without the pants.  But at your work you can better cover your backside.

Navel showing sweaters. The office personnel don’t have to see how fanatic you are at the gym. If you do want to show your belly save it for the gym, the beach or the dance floor.

Short pants. Within a professional setting, you can’t appear with short pants. There are stylish women suits with a three-quarter pants, but they are rare in the business world. It’s much better to go for the classic (long) pantaloon.

taboo clothes open backTops and dresses with an open back. Possibly excellent garments for at the dinner table but not for the conference table. Focus on an appropriate jacket or sweater: don’t give it all away, cover yourself.

Slippers/flip flops. They are one of my favourites to wear, especially during the vacations and in my spare time. It doesn’t matter how beautiful your slippers are, their definitely not for your daily office occupations. When you have foot problems, then try shoes with an open nose.

Tight tops and shirts. These “showing it all” tops are only in combination with a blouse, sweater or colbert excellent clothing for the office floor.

Ladies, also a tip for men:
Admit, it’s far by delicious to look at a whole covered (chest) jungle. Men that display their abundant chest hair are just as stylish as a polyester costume. Gentlemen, groom your chest. Is this your way to show your manliness, please do us women a favour and close the top button of your shirts!

Fitness shoe/flip-flops

Posted on Sunday, May 4, 2008 at 6:09 am

It’s almost flipflop time again  wiihoe. Not only because I love summer time but I am a real shoe- and flipflop addict :P   I can say that I own dozens of pairs of shoes and flip-flops. There is a big chance that when you walk into my room, that you stumble over a few shoes of mine. If it were up to me I’d walk on flip-flops the whole year thru. But unfortunately the weather in Holland do not permit this  )

Today I saw an advertisement about healthy flipflops, called Fitflops. Marcia Kilgore (personal trainer) came with the idea to make a shoe that burns your fat, take care for a better posture, ánd strengthens your muscles.(developed by Darren James and Dr David Cook at London South Bank University) This wonderful and definitely great idea came reality and are now the UK’s hottest fitness shoe’s.

I saw this flipflops today (03 may 2008) just for the first time but they already exist since 2007. ;-) . Meanwhile already in various variants and color to obtain and now also for men!
This evening I told about these fitness shoes against my boyfriend, maybe he can write about it on his own blog if he like.

Note: I have not tried the shoes yet, but all I have read about is very positive and I think to buy some pair of them.

But one important thing: you must not OVERUSE them because this can damage your health. Doctor Barry Francis sayspeople wear flip flops all the time they are constantly scrunching their toes up into a claw. ‘That can cause problems such as tendonitis and even shin splints. People go to work in them and stand in them all day. They are also extremely unstable so you are more likely to trip over and hurt yourself. “

But for summer periods it’s ok to wear flipflops, fitflops or flat shoes. Make sure you save them for the beach and replaced with shoes with backs or proper straps to hold the foot in place.

So, if you are too busy? Is there no time to go to the fitness but do you really want to sports daily? Then these FitFlops are perhaps something for you!

Why wearing FITFLOPS?

  1. FitFlops give you a workout while you walk.
  2. They challenge hard to reach muscles more.
  3. Every step you take in your FitFlops helps tone and trim your legs
  4. FitFlops work your bum muscles more. FitFlops have been clinically proven to increase the amount of time that the gluteus maximus muscle is ‘activated’ during every single step.
  5. FitFlops have been shown to have a significant effect on the toning muscles of your thighs: The rectus femoris muscle (one of the large muscles in the group of muscles in your thigh) is activated for a longer period of time while walking in FitFlops than while normally shod or barefoot.
  6. Walking in FitFlops is like walking barefoot, but a little bit better
  7. FitFlops make it easier to stay in shape.

Wanna know where to buy these lovely fitflops? Or in wich styles you can get them?
