10 Ways to Burn More Calories during the Day

Posted on Sunday, November 11, 2007 at 7:04 am

Walk-pic11. the best thing you can do is WALK!
When you are in the office get out of your comfortable chair and go visit your colleagues in or from a different department instead of mailing or phoning them. Use some time during your lunch break to take a refreshing walk in a nearby park.

2. Park your car a few blocks apart from the place you are going to and take a brisk walk to your office, grocery store, or a shopping mall.

3. Intend to walk at least 30 minutes every day. (if you have a dog, go take him/her with you for an extra walk or a longer walk.)

4. Try to take the stairs instead of an elevator.Walk-stairs-pic2

5. As you probably already know, our body needs minimum 1,5 liter water a day to fill the water that we daily lose through evaporating and sweating. A good thing to burn more calories besides this important fact is to several times during the day, drink natural coffee or green tea without sugar to boost metabolism

6. At dinner, choose a steak instead of pasta. The more you chew, the more calories you burn!

7. Eat frequent small meals, especially if they are not loaded with sugar or white flour,  this is more stimulating for your metabolism than stuffing yourself with big meals two or three times a day.

8. Choosing spicy dishes is another way to burn more calories during the day.

9. While you’re watching TV, do not use remote control. Instead, every time you need to switch channels, get up and do it manually. Or adopt a habit of moving your feet, stretching your legs, or squeezing a rubber ball while you are sitting. Can you believe that such simple movements can burn up to 500 calories a day?

10. In the winter, turn down the heat in your room, especially at night, and sleep under a lighter blanket. And in the summer, turn on an air conditioning. A colder environment makes your body produce more heat and, therefore, facilitates the utilization of calories.

Create your own (self made) facial mask.

Self-made-facial-mask-pic1Do you feel tired and spiritless and can you use a fresh boost?
Expensive masks are not always necessary. You can make them quite cheaply yourself and they have the same effect. Do you want to know how? Than it’s now time to get busy in the kitchen and create one of the following self made masks.

(Warning: if you have a very sensitive skin or if you have problems with allergies then do be carefully!  When the mask is irritating, wash the mask of immediately.)

A mask close and tightens your skin, this results in a better blood flow. Because of this the toxins (waste product) and dead skin cells are transported.

It’s not recommended to use a facial mask every day but  one or two times a week can’t harm you. You will see that your skin is feeling tight, soft and brand new when you’ve used a mask.

Before starting make sure your skin is completely clean. This means that your make-up is totally removed and your skin is properly washed. Then tie up your hair in a tail or carry a hair tie; most important is that there is no hair in front of your face. Now you are ready for the first step: making a scrub.

What do you need for this?
3 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon sea salt
3-5 drops essential oil (for example lavender or tea tree)
(for a dry skin you can use 1 tablespoon sugar in stead of sea salt.)

Mix these ingredients through each other and scrub your face with this mixture. Don’t do this too hard, but with soft turning around movements. But remember: Do not scrub more often than 2-3 times a week!!
Now your skin is thoroughly cleaned, you can try one of the following masks…

For the dry skin
3 tablespoons olive oil
the egg yolk of 1 egg
1 tablespoon warm honey
1 tablespoon pureed avocado
1 teaspoon sour cream

Self-made-facial-mask-pic2For the greasy/oily skin solution 1
1 pureed peach
1 tablespoon yoghurt
2 tablespoons oats
1 tablespoon honey

Or

Solution 2: mask of yeast (gist)
Solve a teaspoon bakers yeast in some warm milk. Wait till it foams and bring it on at your skin.

For the normal skinSelf-made-facial-mask-pic3
½ pureed cucumber
2 teaspoons yoghurt.
2 tablespoons powder milk

Against blackheads: egg masks
Mix foamed egg white with some drops of lemon juice

Self-made-facial-mask-pic4Mix all ingredients through each other and bring the mixture as equal as possible on at your face and neck. Be sure to keep the skin area around your nostrils, lips and around your eyes free.
Let it absorb for about 15-20 minutes and wash it off
with lukewarm water. A baby towel should be ideal to wash of the remainders along your hair line, ears and nostrils.

Dab your face dry.

Does your skin feel tense?  Spread some day crème on your face and you’ll see (and feel) it works.
